HOOSIER CLASSIC BASEBALL
Summer Baseball Tournaments * Fort Wayne, Indiana
HISTORY
The Hoosier Classic Summer Baseball Tournaments started in 1994 with the first 14 & Under Wendy's Classic Invitational in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The original purpose was to run a tournament to raise funds for a local travel team to participate in other tournaments throughout the Midwest.
In 1996, the tournament doubled and became the Hoosier Classic Baseball Tournaments. This expansion created High School Age Brackets that brought in a few collegiate scouts to assist in getting local players exposure to potential collegiate scholarships.
In 1998, the tournaments grew to a total of four Hoosier Classics. The tournaments created a 15, 16, 17, & 18 year old age bracket and began networking with more universities and collegiate scouts to create a positive recruitment opportunity for young players and scouts.
In 2000, the Hoosier Classics added an additional 16 & Under Tournament to have five (5) summer events drawing in 30 or more Colleges / Pro Scouts.
In 2001 - 2003, the Hoosier Classics continued to host Five (5) Quality Summer Tournaments that focused on "bringing players and scouts together."
In 2004, The Hoosier Classic Baseball Tournaments expanded once again. With the renovation of the The Academy of Sports & Health (ASH) Centre located in Fort Wayne, Indiana new opportunities arose. In 2004, the Hoosier Classics doubled in size and ran a total of ten (10) summer tournaments ranging from 13 - 18 year old age brackets. By this point the Hoosier Classics had become very popular bringing in teams from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Missouri, New York, New Jersey, Washington, and Canada. More importantly, Fort Wayne has become a focal point amongst the colleges throughout the Midwest as a solid recruiting opportunity for these young athletes. We are now drawing in well over forty (40) different Universities / Colleges / Pro Scouts to our High School Age Events throughout the summer.
We are continuing to undergo renovations at the ASH Centre with dreams of creating a state of the art facility that will be attracting in teams from across the U.S. as well as Internationally!
This summer we are prepared to host fifteenn (14) youth tournaments throughout the 2008 summer season. We have enjoyed our ongoing success and look forward to building even more opportunities for our youth! We thank you for your interest and support and look forward to hearing from you!
